Currently recommending:

Show: Halt and Catch Fire (AMC). Four seasons about the PC industry in the 80s and 90s. The tech is mostly accurate and the character writing is excellent. Starts slow, becomes one of the best things on TV by season 3.

Podcast: Darknet Diaries. True crime but for hacking, data breaches, and cyberwar. Research is solid, production is good, episodes are self-contained. Good for commutes.

Book: "A Mind at Play" - biography of Claude Shannon. Beautifully written, explains information theory from first principles without being dry. You finish it understanding why the bit is the fundamental unit of information.

Recent recommendations:

Show: Severance (Apple TV+). If you haven't watched it, don't read anything about it - just watch it. Best sci-fi premise on TV in years and the production design is exceptional.

Podcast: Lex Fridman Podcast - yes, the episodes are long, but when he has genuinely technical guests the conversations go deeper than anything else available. The Andrej Karpathy and Donald Knuth episodes in particular.

Book: The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. Technically 1974 but I read it last month. Dual narrative between two worlds with contrasting political systems. Still feels contemporary and the writing is excellent.

Album: Whatever the Weather - self-titled. Ambient electronic, generated algorithmically based on real-time weather data. Sounds like what it is in the best possible way. Good background for focused work.
