Sideloading is underutilized. Some of the best Android apps exist outside the Play Store entirely.
My current sideloaded stack:
All of these require enabling "install from unknown sources" on a per-app basis on modern Android, which is less scary than it used to be.
What are you running that does not come from the Play Store?
My current sideloaded stack:
- ReVanced - YouTube without ads, background play without Premium. Install via ReVanced Manager.
- Obtainium - install and update apps directly from GitHub releases. Keeps your sideloaded apps current without manual APK hunting.
- Spotube - Spotify UI over YouTube Music backend, no account required.
- Seal - yt-dlp frontend for Android. Clean UI, downloads video and audio from most platforms.
- MiXplorer - the best file manager on Android. Not on Play Store but available from their forum thread.
- Aliucord - modded Discord client with plugins. Lighter than the official app.
