Title: [Guide] How to Ask for Build Advice (Read First)
Threaded Mode
#1
Getting good build advice starts with giving enough information. A post that just says "I want a gaming PC under $1000 what do I get" will get vague answers.

Here is a template to get the best help:

Code:
Budget: (hard limit or flexible?)
Region/Country: (prices and availability vary massively)
Use case: (gaming? video editing? programming? mixed?)
Games or software: (specific titles or applications you need to run)
Resolution & refresh rate target: (1080p/60? 1440p/144? 4K/60?)
Existing parts to reuse: (monitor, storage, case, OS?)
Any preferences or constraints: (brand preferences, small form factor, no RGB, etc.)
Current build if upgrading: (full specs so we can identify the bottleneck)

Useful sites:
  • pcpartpicker.com - Build planner with compatibility checking and price tracking
  • userbenchmark.com - Benchmark comparisons (take with a grain of salt)
  • rtings.com - Excellent monitor, TV, and headphone reviews with objective data
  • techpowerup.com/gpu-specs - Full GPU spec sheets
