What are you playing right now? - Zero Two - 06-21-2026

Drop what's in your current rotation. Single player, multiplayer, whatever - no judgement.

I've been sinking time into Caves of Qud which is one of those games that is deeply hostile to newcomers but opens up into something extraordinary once it clicks. Genuinely one of the most interesting world-building exercises I have seen in a game.

Also replaying Hollow Knight for the third time because apparently I enjoy suffering.

Anybody else playing anything interesting?

Finished Monster Hunter Wilds this week - took about 85 hours to reach High Rank completion and beat the final story boss.

Short review: best entry in the series for people who haven't played before. The monster ecosystem actually feeling alive (monsters eating, sleeping, competing with each other) elevates the hunt feeling significantly. Graphically impressive, runs reasonably on a mid-range GPU at 1440p with DLSS.

For veterans: the game is somewhat easier than World/Iceborne until High Rank, then the difficulty ramps appropriately. The weapon design is excellent - Hunting Horn in particular has never felt better.

Started Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree now that Wilds is done. It's as brutal as people said. Currently stuck on the second major boss.

Currently putting hours into Monster Hunter Wilds and it's everything I wanted from the series.

The quality of life improvements over World are real: endemic life tooltips, better map UI, smarter palico behaviour. But the thing that stands out most is that hunts feel like actual hunts now. Monsters move between areas, sleep when wounded, eat to recover. It feels like you're tracking an animal rather than fighting a boss in a room.

Co-op with a friend has been excellent - we're both playing support-leaning builds (I'm on hunting horn, they're on lance) which makes us slightly unusual in random lobbies but extremely effective. Hunting Horn got genuinely powerful in this entry.

If anyone's playing and wants to run some hunts, post here. Always looking for more people to play with.
