TalkativeTurtles welcomes security and hacking discussion. This forum exists for learning, research, and the defence community. It does not exist to facilitate harm. This guide clarifies what that means in practice.
Allowed
- CTF writeups and challenge discussion
- Penetration testing techniques and methodology
- Vulnerability research and disclosure discussion
- Home lab security setups, firewalls, IDS/IPS
- Malware analysis and reverse engineering (educational context)
- Discussion of real-world breaches and what can be learned from them
- Recommending and reviewing security tools
- Questions about learning paths into security careers
Not allowed
- Requests for help attacking systems you do not own
- Sharing working exploits for unpatched vulnerabilities without coordinated disclosure context
- Tools whose primary purpose is fraud, credential theft, or mass targeting
- Asking for help evading detection while conducting unauthorised activity
- Doxxing or targeted harassment framed as OSINT
The test we apply
Context matters. "How do SQL injection attacks work?" is an educational question. "Here is a login page, inject it for me" is a service request. We use judgment, not keyword matching.
If you are unsure whether your post crosses a line, ask a moderator before posting, not after.
